I tried the best mini burnt basque cheesecake and Japanese Nama chocolates in Dubai from The Kakao Guy. Here is a review for the most creamy cheesecakes and rich, decadent chocolates in Dubai that just melt in your mouth! They have keto dessert options too!
I recently tried the two most popular items from The Kakao Guy’s menu: their Burnt Basque Cheesecake, and their Milk Nama Chocolate.
The Kakao Guy is a Dubai-based small business, that recently gained a lot of attention for their burnt cheesecakes and creamy Nama chocolates. Like a lot of their recent customers, I found out about them through another blogger, Naomi D’souza. On her instagram profile, she shared her review of these items, and soon, all her followers were placing their orders with The Kakao Guy.
After seeing SO many people trying and loving the Burnt Basque Cheesecake and Nama Chocolate, I wanted to see what all the hype was about. So, I placed my order.
I placed the order on Whatsapp, and it was a simple process, with them telling me on which day I can expect delivery. I believe, at the moment, they only deliver in Dubai. They accept cash on delivery as a payment option, which is always great. They also have great prices, in my opinion - very affordable for the great desserts they sell!
Now, onto the food. 🤤
Burnt Basque Classic Cheesecake:
The Burnt Basque Cheesecake originates from the Basque region in Spain. It doesn’t have a buttery-biscuit crust at the bottom like a New York cheesecake would normally have. Instead, it has an intentionally borderline-burnt top. Inside, the cheesecake is smooth and creamy. Some even prefer the centre of the cheesecake to be of a looser custard-like consistency.
The Burnt Basque Cheesecake from The Kakao Guy is just as expected - delicious, creamy and rustic-looking. I’m eating it as I type this review, hehe. It’s so decadent. They offer the cheesecake in three sizes - I ordered the 250g classic burnt cheesecake, which was a great mini size to try something new for the first time and still be able to enjoy it. They are also very affordable!
It tastes just like a normal delicious cheesecake, minus the buttery biscuit crust. It’s really dense and smooth on the inside, and the burnt top adds a slightly different texture. If you like creamy, set pudding-like desserts, and if you like cheesecakes, you will definitely like this one.
I don’t really have anything negative to say. It’s just a great cheesecake.
I ordered the classic cheesecake, but they have many different flavours of these cheesecakes, and also Keto-friendly ones. The flavours they have are dark chocolate, lemon, classic, ube, and matcha. They also introduce special seasonal flavours, so it’s worth following them on Instagram if you’re based in Dubai, to be informed every time they bring out something new!
Milk Nama Chocolate:
Now, let’s move onto my favourite - the milk Nama. I’m a huge lover of smooth, melty milk chocolate. Nama chocolate is essentially melted cacao, mixed with cream. The mixture solidifies and then it is cut into cubes, and sprinkled with a layer of cocoa powder on top.
The consistency of these chocolates is quite soft and creamy. They melt really easily, and taste rich & decadent. This was my first time having Nama chocolate, and it’s definitely not the last!
The Kakao Guy sells Dark Nama, Milk Nama, Matcha Nama, Mocha Nama, Ube Nama, and even Keto-friendly Nama Chocolate. So no matter what flavour you prefer, you can find a way to enjoy that creamy Nama chocolate consistency. This, too, was really affordable, so most people can try these decadent chocolates without much thought.
I’m going to make sure I order this often, because it’s good - it doesn’t last long!

I would highly recommend trying desserts from The Kakao Guy if you are based in Dubai. They clearly know what they’re doing. They are so affordable and have brought something new to Dubai and made it popular here. Their desserts are delicious, they are affordable, and a small business worth our support.
They have a great variety of flavours, great prices, great recipes, and they do a few things, but they do them WELL. I think these are their greatest strengths. Also, it’s a small, local business, so you get to be supportive when you order from them! It’s a win-win.
I am really glad that The Kakao Guy is getting the attention they deserve. It’s always lovely to see a wonderful small business thrive and be appreciated by the community, specially at a difficult time like this.
